Learn to box the right way, whatever your starting point

Boxing is one of the oldest and most effective striking arts. It rewards good footwork, timing and defense just as much as power. That is why it is such a great base for fitness, self defense and every other combat sport.

At Manifest MMA, our boxing classes in La Habra focus on fundamentals: stance, jab and cross, hooks, uppercuts, head movement and distance. You work on bags, pads and partner drills, with coaches who correct small details that make a big difference.

You do not need experience, and you do not need to spar. Drills are scaled to your level, and coaches keep everything safe and positive.

Gear and clothing

What to wear and bring to boxing class

For your free trial week, wear comfortable athletic clothes and bring a water bottle. We do not require gear for your first classes, so you can try boxing without spending anything first.

If you decide to keep training, your coach will recommend gloves, wraps and a mouthpiece based on your goals and budget. Hand wraps protect your wrists and knuckles, and good gloves make bag work more comfortable. Buying carefully now saves money later.

Arrive about 15 minutes early so a coach can welcome you and help you with wraps if you are new to them.

Safety first

How we keep boxing safe for beginners

Coaches match partners by size and experience, and every drill has a clear purpose. Beginners learn technique and conditioning before any contact, and contact is always controlled.

We ask everyone to follow the mat etiquette rules, keep equipment clean and respect partners. Wear comfortable athletic clothes, and bring water. For official guidance on the sport, you can visit USA Boxing.

If you have a medical condition or an injury, tell your coach before class so they can adjust drills. Check with your doctor first if you are unsure.

Your goals

Boxing for fitness, confidence and skill

Some people come to boxing for a hard workout. Others want to learn to defend themselves, and some simply want a place to release stress. Our classes serve all three goals, and coaches help you shape your training around the one that matters most.

Fitness focused students tend to like the rhythm of rounds and the variety of bag work, pad work and conditioning. Students who want skill spend more time on footwork and defense. Everyone benefits from the same fundamentals.

Because boxing shares many skills with Muay Thai, it is also a great way to build a base before adding kicks, knees and elbows later.
